1968 C.F. Martin Brazilian Rosewood D-28

The king of tonewoods: Brazilian Rosewood ! and the king of vintage guitars: the pre-69 Martin D-28.   This is a classic example of Martins workhorse dreadnought D-28 in brazilian rosewood, a prized tonewood that went out of production on an industrial scale in 1969, at which time Martin and many other producers changed to the much more available and much less expensive Indian Rosewood.  This Martin D-28 is pictured as we bought it.  It is in fabulous condition being crack free and all original.  The pickguard has curled quite a bit, which we will attempt to remedy......if we can't save it, we will replace it with a Martin D-28 guard. It is currently at Graham Parkers for a set up and a check up to be sure we have no loose braces and that the intonation is spot on. It is made of the most desirable straight grained brazilian stock, a luthiers dream and has patinated to a lovely, warm pumpkin brown colour.  More diatribe when it returns from Graham's guitar spa !!!!

Well, she's back and what a wonderful guitar this is.  We have managed to save the pickguard and all else if good and healthy, with an incredible, sweet, resonant voicing that is deep as the Grand Canyon, huge sustain and ringing backtones that reaffirm the great value of Brazilian rosewood.  A great guitar !! A great Martin Brazilian D-28 !!

Fast forward 13 years and she's back again !!!!   In the same wonderful condition that she went out in all that time ago........with 13 more years under the belt of maturity and lovin' !!
